Limitations

Only Variable Print designs can be shared, that is, the Hosted PDFs can’t be shared.

An ordered Document Kit which contains at least one Variable Print part can also be shared. In this case, the User Site widget shows the thumbnail of the first vairiable Part Document in the kit. Kits without variable parts are not shareable. When creating a new design from a shared kit part, the template used is the individual part and not the entire kit.

Designs based on the Staged templates can’t be shared. If a newer template is released, all shared designs based on the obsolete template are hidden from the User Start page. Only designs based on the current template are shown.

The ‘Load more’ button allows the users to load additional records and show them on page. There is no limit to the number of items displayed but with large volumes (thousands) the browser might slow down significantly. The filtering controls should be used wisely to limit the number of returned items.

Known Issues

No known issues at present.

Error Logging

If the widget doesn’t appear on the User Start page, then it can be a result of a JavaScript error. It can be discovered by pressing the F12 key which brings up the browser console. The JavaScript errors are usually visible as red links.

The JavaScript errors can also happen on the User Customise and Order History page.

If a server-side code error happens, then a record should be found in the Storefront Admin Log. It helps to filter out other records by searching for messages having the text “designspotlight” in them.

It is always helpful to escalate the problem with an error message in hand.

Debugging

Since the Storefront users can have diffrent permission levels based on their group-membership etc, they may see very different thumbnails on their User Start page. When in doubt, please check the group-memberhip of the user which is supposed to see certain items but is not seeing anything.
